Definition: the main events of a play, novel, movie or similar work, devised and presented by the writer as an interrelated sequence.

What is what?
- Exposition: The part of the story, usually near the beginning, in which the characters are introduced, the background is explained, and the setting is described
- Inciting Incident: The event or decision that puts the story into action or begins the problem.
- Rising Action: Events that lead to the climax. Events that build suspense and interest.
- Climax: The part of the story where it is the most intense, exciting and important. The major event of the story.
- Falling Action:The action and dialogue following the climax that lead the reader into the story's end.
- Resolution: The part of the story in which the problems are solved and the action comes to a satisfying end.
- Denouement: The final part of a play, movie, or narrative in which the strands of the plot are drawn together. (Everything that happens after the resolution)
